Individual spells have prices, but what about items with spells? Some people put a large price tag on spells and some people will disregard them completely(usually those purchasing items). The following are the current bp.tf prices on spells with a short description and some additional info on pricing. Please note that the bp.tf prices are not entirely conclusive and should not be completely relied upon. Items in small markets often have their prices inflated on there. Although, this is also due to the extremely volatile market that is spells. Prices vary wildly and there is a lot more highballing and lowballing than for most items. I wouldn't recommend going into spell trading if your goal is to make a profit. Paint Effects Die Job 0.7-1 Keys - Color shifts from bright yellow to purple to blue. Spectral Spectrum 1-3 Keys -Shifts colors depending on team. Putrescent Pigmentation 5-6 ref - Shifts between light and dark shades of yellowish green. No pulsation, hence the price. Sinister Staining 5 ref - Shifts between light yellow and yellowish green Chromatic Corruption 2-3 keys Shifts from various shades of purple Weapon Effects Exorcism 4.66-6ref - Causes team colored ghost particles to rise from the corpse of the victim. (Note that this is a very common spell in comparison to the others.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JudqBeXvKE Squash Rockets 1.4-2 Keys - Gives rockets a purple trail and orange explosion. Spectral Flame 2-4 Keys - Shoots red and green flames from pyro primary weapons. The ignited flamed will be green. Sentry Quad-Pumpkins 6 ref- Applied to engineer melee weapon to give lvl 3 sentry rockets a purple trail and orange explosion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMY0iR7baMM Gourd Grenades 6 ref -Applying it to any demoman explosive weapon will cause orange explosions. Here is a video showcasing all of the weapon spells. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zu1meRH2QNc Footprint effects The footprint effects are pretty flashy and considerably rare, so their prices are generally higher than those of other spells. Team Spirit Footprints 6 Keys - Team colored flames left behind the player. Gangreen Footprints 4-6 Keys - Yellow flames left behind the player. Corpse Grey Footprints 4 Keys - Dull green flames footprints left behind the player Violent Violet Footprints 3 keys- Peach colored flames left behind the player Rotten Orange Footprints 7-8 Keys -Bright orange flames. (One of two spells to sell for higher than a key on the steam market) Bruised Purple Footprints 7 Keys- Bright purplish-red flames. Headless Horseshoe Footprints 15 keys -Bluish-purple flames. (Most coveted spell, sold for 4$ on steam market) Here is a video showcasing all of the footprint spells. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g94cLjWJxFg Vocal Effects They all have the same effect of lowering the speaker's pitch. Once applied they all have the same effect of "Voices From Below". The difference between them is that class specific hats can only have class specific spells applied to them. All-class hats can have any of the spells applied to them. The price of the vocal effect is mainly dependent on the popularity of the class, which is why scout, engineer and heavy are the cheapest. In my opinion they are the least desirable of all the spells. Scout's Spectral Snarl 4.33-6.11 ref Soldier's Booming Bark 1 key . Pyro's Muffled Moan 1 key Demoman's Cadaverous Cloak 0.6-1 Key Heavy's Bottomless Bass 4 ref Engineer's Gravelly Growl 2-2.66ref Medic's Blood Curling Bellow 5.33- 7 ref Sniper's Deep Down Under Drawl 1-2Keys Spy's Creepy Croon 1 Key Here is a video showcasing all of the vocal spells https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lhcu2PWm_Ho Pricing The problem that remains is pricing items with pre-applied spells. As with any other item, most sellers with highball and buyers won't add any value to it. Don't sell items with spells for regular prices. Even though the effects are only applicable at certain times or locations they are still pretty cool and somewhat rare. In my opinion, spells should be treated like paints or strange parts in that there is some value to it, but not for the price of the add-on itself. The general rule for paints and strange parts is to pay half the value of them, though I think it is fine in general(Although quite difficult to make a profit when buying for these prices). I modify it depending on the value of the item itself, the usefulness of the addon and the addon popularity. Due to all spell categories having similar effects it depends mostly on the type of spell, rarity, and the value of the item on which it is added. It's difficult to come up with general rules, but here are a few tips. 1. Footprint spells, spectral spectrum, and chromatic corruption are the most desirable and are more likely to fetch close to half of market price. 2. Vocal spells are not particularly desirable and will not fetch much value as addons. 3. If you can get your hands on an item for market value that has a spell attached it is sure profit since it will always be more valuable than its counterparts. 4. Due to the very small market these items will take a long time to sell so don't get discouraged. Most people buying these items do so for the novelty instead of the profit. 5. I wouldn't add more than a ref in value to any of the low tier paint spells. 6. If you are paying more than half the market price of the spell you are being ripped off 7. Having multiple spells on an item increase the price of each individual spell. Here's a look at a few solds and buyers just to show that the market is not all bad. Hi there. What item? Generally the price of the addition depends on the cosmetic itself. You can probably get a couple extra ref off a high tier item and maybe a ref for a lower tier one.

Well... The price of Halloween Spells has dramatically went up after Halloween 2015, due to them NOT making a return. I've heard that footprint spells sell for around 40 keys now.

Not sure where you got that info/pricing from but I dont think anyone would pay near 40 keys for a footprints spell unless its on a very rare Item thats already worth close to that. (If you have proof of sale at this price by all means share)
